Since everybody is talking about it right now, I might as well say something with regard to Miss USA’s slip in front of 1 billion viewers two days ago. Watch the video below.

Did you laugh your head off? Actually I did. It just feels great to see an American fall. Although I think it’s pretty mean to laugh at this poor girl. It is really amusing that she could actually slip in front of so many people. But what is actually amazing is how she skillfully turned back, quickly regained control and gave a bright smile after such a fiasco. I couldn’t have possibly done what she did. (Not the slipping, but the turning back and smiling!)

Anyway, she still made into the top five in the end. Not a big surprise. Since the show was sponsored by Donald Trump and most of the judges were Americans.

There are also some racist comments on YouTube. Poor girl. We are so good at generalizing nowadays and making connections between unrelated issues. Like how a fall can be related to Latin Americans and immigration policies. Like how a bus driver incident can be related to elitism and the failure of a top school. It’s so easy to categorize people now and hold the system culpable, since everybody is part of some system. Go and read what is written on Lu Xin’s blog and you will understand what I am talking about. All the hoo-ha about FT can be summarised in one word – “Singaporean Bullshit”.

Sorry, that was actully two words.

Did I just say Singaporeans’ discussion about FT is bullshit? Well, don’t blame me. I am just doing what everybody else is doing now – blaming the group instead of the individuals. I am just being fashionably mean.
